| Description: |
The course is intended to impart delegates with sufficient knowledge of risk
in Defence Acquisition, MOD Policy towards risk, and details of MOD’s Risk
Management process to enable them to act as competent practitioners, able to
contribute appropriately to all stages of a project’s risk management
activities. This will be achieved through a logical progression through the
MOD’s risk management process in a series of presentations, syndicate exercises
and discussions. This course is a pre-requisite for the Risk Management
-Advanced (RM-A) course. |

2.5 days non-residential when held at Admiral House. 2 days non-residential when held at other sites. |

This course is suitable for MOD civilian and serving officers, who are
required to practice Risk Management techniques, however, all acquisition staff
may also benefit from the course. The course is also suitable for national and
overseas acquisition personnel and candidates working in the defence industries. |

• Explain MOD’s Risk Management process;
• Identify the statistical basis of Risk Management Tools;
• Demonstrate qualitative and quantitative risk analysis;
• Produce inputs to model timescale risk;
• Explain the concept of mitigation and fallback plans;
• Explain how industry view risk management;
• Explain the content of risk plans;
• List the management actions required to record, monitor, control, report and
reduce risk. |
