Ranging and Obsolescence - Awareness
Course Code PS-02
Description: This course  provides an Introduction to the Ranging, Applicability and Obsolescence processes. It provides a step by step overview of how to manage the processes and material needed to range and manage Obsolescence effectively and a hands on element processing OLIVER transactions, with an introduction to OLAS.
Aim: To provide a basic understanding of the Ranging and Obsolescence process to enable new equipment to be Ranged to Stores System 3 (SS3) and the Obsolescence process to be managed effectively.
Duration: 1 or 2 days non-residential dependant on individuals COGNOS 8 Licence.
Pre-Requisites: Successful completion of Combined Stores System 3 and OLIVER (PS-03) course prior to attending this course.

Designed For: All civilian and military personnel who require an understanding of the Ranging, Scaling and Obsolescence processes and systems.
Objectives: By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Correctly identify the main steps in the Ranging and Obsolescence process and where this is applicable to an item of equipment;
• List the documents and SS3 transaction codes that are required to perform Ranging and Obsolescence tasks;
• Demonstrate awareness of the information needed to Range equipment and the forms which are needed to manage Obsolescence.
